A sixth surgery.
It is difficult to get your head around the fact that your 21 year old daughter has had six surgeries in her short life. Admittedly, the first two were to correct genetic trigger thumb and trigger finger conditions that developed while she was still very young, but the remaining four have been a result of the sport that she loves. After finally completing her senior year in college as a gymnast, your daughter is still paying physically for a sport that is likely as hard on a body as any other activity. Surgeries three and four were for her right ankle, both to repair lose ligaments that were in fact one of the reasons that she was as flexible as she was. Surgery number five was to repair a torn labrum in her left shoulder and the most recent surgery number six was to repair another torn labrum, this time in her right hip.
Fortunately, she was able to continue to compete in the sport that she loved so much with the combined help of physical therapists and chiropractic care for sports injuries.
The Benefits of a Chiropractor Extend to Many Patients
Whether you are an athlete or not, there are many times when a chiropractor can offer assistance. For instance, a chiropractor for accident victims can help relieve pain and increase mobility, and sometimes even avoid the need for surgery. Used in conjunction with a physical therapist and regular amounts of exercise and activity, in fact, many athletes and non athletes alike find themselves living a more comfortable life.
Chiropractic care for sports injuries, work injuries, and car accident victims has become more and more common as a number of insurance plans now cover these treatments. Did you know that experts estimate that as many as 80% of the population will experience a back problem at some time in their lives. This means, of course, that even if you are not an athlete or an accident victim you will likely experience some kind of back pain as well. For many back pain sufferers the best way to return to feeling comfortable and being active is by visiting a chiropractor.
Back pain may be the leading cause of disability in Americans under the age of 45, but you do not have to suffer without help. Like accident victims and current and former athletes, you can seek the care of a chiropractor to see if you can get some relief. Chiropractic care for sports injuries and car accident victims may be more common, but there are also many chronic pain sufferers who look for a chiropractor to get he relief they need.
