The first thing that you want to avoid is not having a plan for after you get your knee replacement. Having a plan is important because you need to have some kind of structure in place to help you go through your daily life. Things as simple as getting up to get food or driving somewhere will not be possible directly after you have your surgery, so try and find someone who can help you and who will be ready immediately following your surgery.

Not taking enough medication is another thing that you should avoid after your surgery. After the knee replacement, you are going to be in a lot of pain, and unless you take some pain medication you probably won’t be able to do the therapy required to get back to normal. If you’re worried about taking pain medication in general, you must understand that if the doctor prescribed it, you will be fine.
