Going outside for a couple of hours each day is a good first step. Your eyes need to be outside in the sunlight. If you can, try to leave a part of your day for going outside.

Heavy screen usage is a big cause of nearsightedness. With technological advances, we are using more and more screens in our everyday lives. Try to limit the time you spend behind a screen. If you work at a computer every day, it would be best to not spend your evenings on electronics.

The last thing that you can do to protect yourself from nearsightedness, is to go to yearly eye checkups. If you get your eyes checked frequently your doctor will be able to catch on to issues as fast as possible. They will also be able to give you some more preventative measures that you can take.
